Uluwatu

Our Stay

We stayed at the beautiful Dreamsea Surf Camp — somehow, I got lucky and found a great deal. It wasn’t in our budget at first, but I kept checking back until the price dropped. A little reminder to keep refreshing those listings, even if you’ve already booked — you never know what might open up. Just make sure there’s no cancellation fee first.

We stayed in a Double Room with a balcony. The ocean view from our room and honestly from every point on the property is what made our stay so worth it. While the room itself was beautiful, it's not going to be the most comfortable. If you're the type of person that needs space, organization and clean surfaces at all times, this room might be a little difficult. I also have to mention the 6 flights of stairs it takes to get to the hotel itself. I knew this prior to booking, so we were okay with it but for anyone who doesn't prefer the trek, I would be mindful of this! However for us, waking up to the ocean and being steps away from the beach made it worth it. Do we regret staying? No. Will we book again? Probably not.

Bites & Sips

Brunch & Cafes

Suka Espresso - our go-to cafe for great coffee and brunch options! I loved their Lean Bowl & Coconut Latte Cloud.

The Deli - the best paninis ever. Highly recommend the pastrami or mushroom paninis, as well as their banana bread served with espresso butter (are you kidding?!).

Papa's Deli - half deli, half organic grocery store! A great stop for their yummy focaccia sandwich.

Le Cliff - a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean for a light brunch, the food is okay but the view is a must see!

Lunch & Dinner

Yeye's - a local warung serving delicious traditional & affordable Indonesian food.

Artisan - the perfect date spot with amazing italian food & vibes. The Tagliatelle is a must!

Ulu Fish Market - fresh caught fish & sushi with beautiful outdoor seating

La Baracca - a beautiful italian restaurant serving amazing appetizers, drinks, pasta, pizza & more! The ambiance was just beautiful.

Small Bites

Baked - yummy pastries & coffee! My favorite was their honey toast.

Dang Cookies - delicious & unique cookies for a sweet treat!

Activities

Rent a Scooter - If there's one thing that I would recommend the most if you feel comfortable doing, is renting a scooter. Personally, we had no issues navigating through Uluwatu! It is the quickest and cheapest way to explore the beaches and town, not to mention how fun it was! Just be mindful and respectful of other drivers and traffic laws. While a lot of the restaurants & cafes are within a mile radius, the beaches have a bit more of a distance between them. We rented our scooter from The Brothers Villa for only $6 USD a day!

Take a Yoga Class - We were blessed to have daily yoga classes offered at our stay. But the great news is that Dreamsea offers these classes to anyone! They host one in the morning and one in the evening and on a beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean. It was around $10 per person.

Book a Spa Day â€‹- When in Bali, getting a spa treatment is a must, whether that's getting a massage, facial or hair treatment. We went to Spring Spa at the Uluwatu location and it was heavenly! We booked a 90 minute Couples Massage and I treated myself to a 60 minute CODAGE Hydration Facial. The treatment, staff & service were all amazing and the spa itself was beautiful!

Beaches

Padang Padang Beach - beautiful beach with clear and calm waters. It's the perfect place to swim and surf for beginners! They offer both rentals & lessons! This beach can get a little crowded and costs IDR 15,000 for adults and IDR 2,000 for scooter parking.

Suluban Beach - surrounded by rocks & caves, this beach is a must see. I would recommend going during low tide as the waves can be a little more harsh and known for pro-surfing, but so worth it to check out! â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

Ubud

Our Stay

For our stay in Ubud, we booked Pulu Villas by Pramana and had the most amazing experience.

The property is peaceful, well maintained, and surrounded by lush greenery and rice paddies, giving it a calm, tucked away feel. The staff were consistently kind and attentive, which made our stay feel very easy and welcoming. One thing to note is that there isn’t an on site restaurant. While our stay included complimentary breakfast, it wasn’t our favorite, so we ended up heading into town for most meals, which we didn’t mind and actually enjoyed.

We stayed in the One Bedroom Pool Villa overlooking the rice paddies, and it was a great place to unwind after full days of exploring. Having a private pool right outside the room felt like a nice bonus, and the outdoor bath was perfect in the evenings. Upstairs, the mosquito netted balcony quickly became our go to spot to sit, read, and take in the surroundings. The space was comfortable, calm, and exactly what we were looking for in Ubud.

Since we had a scooter, getting into town was easy and took about 15 to 20 minutes. This is worth keeping in mind if you prefer to stay closer to the center, though I would absolutely stay here again.

Bites & Sips

Brunch & Cafes

Fold - our go-to cafe for a quick bite and coffee. The Pistachio Latte and Savory Galettes were our favorites!

Pison - the perfect spot for any time of the day. Their breakfast, lunch and dinner are all amazing, and they offer a variety of dishes from local Balinese to Italian—you really can’t go wrong.

Lunch & Dinner

Chupacabra - if there's one place to visit, it's Chupacabra. A South American inspired steakhouse with the best steak, appetizers, atmosphere and service.

Donna - the perfect spot for a date night, with ambient lighting and an amazing paella.

Honorable Mentions

Sun Sun Warung amazing traditional Indonesian food with the friendliest staff!

Akasha - farm to table using only organic produce from local farms with the most beautiful and

spiritual atmosphere.

Activities

Chase a Waterfall - If it’s your first time in Ubud, there are so many thoughtfully curated Airbnb Experiences that will map out the perfect day — waterfalls, coffee plantations, rice fields, all of it. But if you’ve been before (or just prefer to wander on your own), I highly recommend renting a scooter or hiring a driver and exploring independently. Most waterfalls are surprisingly accessible, with clear entry points and walks down. We visited Uma Anyar Waterfall and had no trouble finding it, not to mention every local we met along the way was so kind and welcoming!

Take a Photo Booth Picture - Stop by Sun Shot for the sweetest little photo booth moment. It’s the kind of keepsake that feels nostalgic in the best way. The team there was so lovely, helping us choose frames and small souvenirs after. A simple, fun memory to tuck into your journal.

Take a Silver Making Class - This might have been my favorite experience of the entire trip. We took a silver making class at a local workshop and created our own rings from start to finish — weighing, melting, molding, setting the stone. There’s something so special about wearing a piece you made with your own hands. Easily my favorite souvenir I brought home, and such a meaningful way to spend an afternoon in Ubud. Check out our mini vlog!
